W. Michael Hairfield, D.D.S., M.S., M.S.D.
Professional Experience & Education:
Dr. Mike Hairfield brings a multitude of degrees, educational experiences, and specialized training in both General Dentistry and Orthodontics to our practice. He graduated from the U.W. with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 1976 and from the School of Dentistry in 1980, as a dental classmate of Sabra. As a senior Mike was awarded the Inspirational Award by his dental classmates and the Outstanding Graduate Award by the Washington State Dental Association. After dental school Mike completed a General Practice Residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital where he earned his Certificate in 1982 and a Fellowship as Chief Resident in 1983. He then attended the University of North Carolina, earning his Master’s Degree in Bio-Engineering in 1987. After being accepted to the U.W. Orthodontic Graduate School, Mike returned to Seattle and became an Orthodontist in 1992. Since then he has worked as a Board-Certified Orthodontist in his Renton office and as an Affiliate Associate Professor at the U.W. School of Dentistry.
We are thrilled to have a person with Mike’s caliber, character, and skills on our team! He is gentle, humble, and has a quick wit. He relates extremely well to all ages, and children like him as he calls himself “just a big kid”! When he is not with patients, our staff finds him hiding behind a journal, engrossed in the newest research and dental articles. Mike is in our office two Saturdays each month, as well as covering many days for Greg.
Mike is a member of the ADA, Washington State Dental Association, Seattle-King County Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, Washington State Society of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Cleft Palate Association, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Hairfield was recently honored in the Seattle Metropolitan Magazine as a “Seattle Top Orthodontist”.
Hobbies & Interest:
Mike and his wife Wendy live in Kirkland, and she has been with the City of Bellevue for many years. They have one son who works in Real Estate and a daughter who works in Seattle. When Mike is not working or studying, he can be found hiking, biking, skiing, or playing guitar. He especially enjoys his annual summer hiking trips with his dental school buddies. |
